Instructor, Lecturer, or Assistant Professor of Spanish
Job Summary
The School of Humanities and Fine Arts at Talladega College seeks a qualified, experienced, student-centered, and collegial full-time Instructor, Lecturer, or Assistant Professor of Spanish to teach in the English Department, beginning August 2026. The specific rank aligns with experience and expertise. The department houses English and Spanish in the School of Humanities and Fine Arts.
Duties include teaching beginning and Intermediate Spanish, serving on committees, and maintaining an active research agenda. At least two years of experience teaching at the collegiate level is required. The successful candidate reports to the Dean of Humanities and Fine Arts.
Responsibilities
- Teach Spanish courses in traditional (in-person), blended, and online formats
- Advise students academically
- Recruit and retain students to majors within the School
- Recommend courses to be offered in the department each semester
- Adhere to College policies and procedures
- Develop and assess degree programs and student learning outcomes
- Serve on College committees
- Maintain course learning management systems
- Review and revise Department catalog content
- Project a professional, positive, and upbeat disposition
- Meet established deadlines
- Utilize and remain current with the College’s instructional technologies
- Participate in all required Faculty, Department, School, and College meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- A master’s degree with at least eighteen (18) graduate-level semester hours in Spanish from an accredited institution (Instructor/Lecturer rank)
- Evidence of successful college teaching experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail
Preferred
A terminal degree in the teaching discipline from an accredited institution (Assistant Professor rank)
