The Ness School of Management and Economics at South Dakota State University (SDSU) invites applications for an Instructor of Accounting. The Ness School seeks a dynamic, innovative instructor. Teaching outcomes associated with the position, which the school’s standards document precisely specifies, must satisfy the academic standards AACSB associates with its faculty-status classification, Instructional Practitioner. The position is nine months, full time, benefits eligible, and non-tenure track, with the possibility of supplemental summer teaching. The position is supervised by the Director of the Ness School of Management and Economics and located in Brookings.
Responsibilities:
- Teach four undergraduate course sections each semester in conventional face-to-face on-campus formats and through emerging modes of remote delivery, including hybrid and/or other online formats, in ways that meet the standards the school associates with its AACSB-faculty-status classification, Instructional Practitioner.
- Teach undergraduate courses including, for example, Principles of Accounting
- Participate in Ness School and university general-service activities.
- Lead with exceptional pedagogy in the classroom and through undergraduate-student mentorship.
Minimum Qualifications:
- MBA or other master’s degree in accounting or closely related field by the position start date.
- Strong evidence of the potential for effective teaching.
- Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Effective organizational and time-management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Teaching and general-service experience (committee work, advising students, curriculum development, etc.) at the collegiate level.
- Teaching experience in distance, hybrid, or online modalities.
- Certified Public Accountant
- Accounting industry experience.
