INSTRUCTOR OF BUSINESS
Jefferson Community College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Instructor of Business within the STEM, Health Professions, and Business Division. This position offers an exciting opportunity to teach courses offered by the Business department, including College Foundations, Introduction to Business, Entrepreneurship, Principles of Management, Marketing, and Sports Management, beginning fall 2026.
The role encompasses curriculum design, classroom instruction, program assessment, and academic advising. Each faculty member is expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to student success, academic excellence, and community engagement, while actively contributing to the College's Strategic Plan and collaborating with colleagues and institutional leadership. The successful candidate will support and promote academic programs that prepare students for successful careers or seamless transfer to four-year institutions.
Responsibilities include:
- Teach a minimum of 15 credit hours per semester and maintain 7 office hours each week to assist and mentor students.
- Prepare and deliver engaging instruction across multiple modalities, including in-person and online formats. Courses are primarily scheduled on weekdays but may also include evenings or weekends.
- Utilize the Brightspace learning management system for course administration.
- Assess student learning outcomes at course and program levels and use data to drive continuous improvement aligned with institutional goals and general education standards.
- Guide students through academic planning, career readiness, and inclusive, student-centered learning experiences.
- Participate in professional development to stay current with new developments in the teaching and learning of business-related coursework.
- Engage in community and college service to advance the mission and vision of the college.
- Interact and communicate effectively with diverse populations, foster inclusion, and promote equal access and treatment for groups traditionally underrepresented in higher education.
Special Working Conditions:
- This is not a remote position.
- May require teaching some evenings or weekends.
- May require driving of college vehicles for field trips and/or off-campus meetings.
Required:
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Organizational Leadership, or a closely related field
- Teaching experience
Preferred:
- Full-time teaching experience within higher education.
- Evidence of supporting student success among diverse populations.
- Experience with academic advising.
- Expertise in creating and delivering experiential learning activities.
- Knowledge of and experience implementing best practices in pedagogy and assessment to enhance teaching and learning.
- Proficiency in diverse teaching methods for lecture and online environments in business-related coursework.
- Experience using the Microsoft 365 productivity suite and Learning Management Systems for instruction.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Experience teaching in multiple modalities, including asynchronous instruction.
- Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning and professional growth.
- Understanding and support of the mission and values of the community college.
$47,589-$52,000 for well-qualified individuals. Salary is determined based upon experience and education in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement as well as internal equity.
