Departmental Objective
To preserve and carry out University traditions and ceremony and to engender institutional and financial support by producing first-rate events, programs, special projects, and communications that reflect the mission, goals, and values of Christopher Newport University.
Purpose of the Position
This position will facilitate the work of the Executive Director of University Events and the Office of University Events by providing administrative support and office management. Duties include but are not limited to answering office telephone lines, taking messages, responding to inquiries, maintaining communications through office email accounts, maintaining R.S.V.P. lists, paying invoices, procuring goods and services, completing department staff purchase card reconciliations, maintaining financial records, managing all office records and accounts, managing inventory and supplies, and assisting at events as needed.

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent education/experience that equates to a high school diploma
Licensure:
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to obtain University golf cart/mini-bus driving certifications
Experience:
- Experience with spreadsheets and word processing
- Experience with bookkeeping
- Experience processing invoices and purchase requisitions
- Experience overseeing day-to-day administrative operations in an office setting
- Experience managing complex schedules
Additional Consideration(s)
Education:
- Associate’s Degree
- Coursework in business administration or related field
Experience:
- Experience with eVA procurement system
- Experience with multiple phone lines, email accounts, and/or managing web content
- Experience with bulk mailings
Salary Information
Salary $42,560 to $53,200, Commensurate with Education and Experience
