IRP Inpatient RN - Talbot Hall
Scope of Position
University East Hospital is committed to enhancing the quality of care provided to patients. The Registered Nurse functions as an integral member of the team of care providers on the inpatient medical, surgical, and substance abuse units and reflects a culture of cooperation, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. The team, consisting of the RN-PCCs, Patient Care Associate (PCA), Student Nursing Assistant (SNA), Student Care Assistant (Sitter) and Unit Clerical Associate (UCA) provides patient care and supportive services that are directed towards achievement of patient care outcomes, maximizing the patients involvement in his/her own plan of care, improving service levels, reducing length of hospitalization and decreasing costs. Patients and their family will experience the benefits of primary nursing patient focused care through the integrated skills of all care team members.
Position Summary
The RN is responsible for managing care to the patient and his/her family, and for directing and supervising the other members of the patient care team. They are responsible for assessing, implementing, coordinating, delegating, and evaluating the provision of nursing to assigned patients. The RN prioritizes patient care needs and provides leadership and development of the patient care team.
Minimum Qualifications
For Hire:
Graduate of a Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited school of registered nursing. Current Ohio licensure. Previous nursing experience in a medical surgical acute care setting and BSN preferred.
Ongoing:
Practices within the Hospitals policies and procedures and Division of Nursing Standards of Practice, including attendance and dress code policies. Maintains infection control standards, implements appropriate patient safety protocols as necessary. Adheres to the mission, vision, values statements as demonstrated through positive patient/guest relations, positive and effective interactions with staff, formulating and meeting developmental goals.
Maintains knowledge related to patient care issues, quality improvement and cost reduction, current policies, procedures, and protocols. Maintains current Ohio RN license. Meets mandatory educational and health requirements. Demonstrates computer skills required to meet job functions.

Since 1974, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center has provided high-quality treatment for substance use disorders at Talbot Hall. Were a leader in Columbus, Ohio, and the region in addiction medicine. Our physicians and staff, many with decades of experience in the field of addiction, are specially trained in the latest clinical techniques and proven treatment methods. We offer a full range of inpatient and outpatient programs to meet the individual needs of each person who walks through the doors at Talbot Hall, which is on our East campus. We have 40 inpatient beds, including 25 withdrawal management beds and 15 for a new residential unit. We offer expert medication management for those needing prescriptions to curb substance use while offering superb psychotherapy and support groups to help identify reasons behind and triggers for the addiction.
External applicants: This role requires mandatory Week 1 training, MondayFriday, on day shift. Attendance for all five days in the same week is required.
