IT Quality Assurance Associate
Overview
The Central Office of Information Technology at Auburn University is seeking a Quality Assurance Associate to join the IT Quality Management team! The successful candidate will be responsible for testing the functionality and performance of software applications or systems software.
In this role you will develop and execute test plans and scripts designed to detect problems in software applications and systems software. You will ensure software applications or systems software meet technical and functional requirements. This role is responsible for performing workflow analysis, documenting test results and recommending quality improvements. You will work with development to resolve software defects and diagnose/improve product configuration for the current and future modules.
Working onsite is a requirement of the job. May work up to 2 days hybrid remote in local area with supervisor’s approval.

Responsibilities
- Creates and executes manual test cases and provides documentation within the test management and quality tools. Helps manage the creation and maintenance of software defects with the appropriate test management tool.
- Meets with project and business partner teams to understand and gather functional and/or technical requirements.
- Records requirements in appropriate quality tool. Captures full traceability for requirements – test cases and defects.
- Develops both functional and API automation and load/performance testing scripts in support of project activities, as well as the building of a holistic regression testing library.
- Sends out communications and/or reports and metrics to project and business partner team members.
- Participates in the analysis and recommendation of various quality tools, to include vendor discussions, proofs of concepts (POCs) and presentations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (Degree in IT or Business preferred) AND 0 years of experience.
- Associate's degree (Degree in IT or Business preferred) AND 4 years of experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent AND 8 years of experience.
Area of experience: Experience in software development and the software development cycle, foundational knowledge of quality assurance and general IT.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- IT project experience working with agile methodologies.
- Experience working with large ERP solutions, such as Banner, Workday, etc.
- Experience working in a higher education environment.
- Experience testing browser-based applications.
- Knowledge of both current and emerging IT technologies and applications, such as cloud applications, APIs, application integrations, etc.
- Working knowledge of relational databases and experience writing queries.
- Understanding of current development frameworks and practices.
- Conceptual knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, C#, XML, SQL, Shell script or similar languages.
