We have research specialists in journalism and public relations in addition to researchers working on many aspects of media representation, media institutions, media and communications policy, and also on numerous relationships between media, culture and society.

Features

As a Journalism PhD researcher in the University of Stirling Faculty of Arts and Humanities, you'll be provided with access to dedicated research facilities as well as an opportunity to attend a range of research seminars and workshops within specialist research centres and collaboratively across multi-disciplinary subjects.
You'll also have access to a number of training opportunities, at University, Faculty and Divisional levels, including subject specialist training within postgraduate research seminars and other forums.

General requirements

General entry requirements for our research degree programmes are:

An upper second class honours Bachelors degree or higher qualification. For some studentships and programmes of study a suitable masters degree may be specified.
If your first language is not English you're required to show English language competency equivalent to the minimum level of IELTS 6.5 (6.0 in all bands).

Fees and funding

Tuition Fees

International: 40,592 AUD / year (≈ 21,500 GBP / year)
Domestic: 9,451 AUD / year (≈ 5,006 GBP / year)

Living costs

Stirling, United Kingdom: 1,246-2,152 AUD / month. The living costs include the total expenses per month, covering accommodation, public transportation, utilities (electricity, internet), books and groceries.
