Position Summary
- Review construction plans, drawings, specifications, bid documents, and other project information to understand project requirements and scope of work.
- Assist in developing detailed and accurate estimates for public and private construction projects.
- Perform accurate material and quantity takeoffs from construction plans and specifications.
- Enter takeoff quantities, pricing, and other required information into estimating software and related systems.
- Assist with preparing complete bid packages, proposals, and supporting documentation.
- Review plans and specifications to identify project requirements, potential discrepancies, and factors that may impact pricing or project execution.
- Assist in evaluating labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor requirements, and other costs associated with proposed projects.
- Identify and account for external factors that may affect the final bid, including site conditions, scheduling requirements, project specifications, and other relevant considerations.
- Conduct local and regional site visits to evaluate proposed project conditions as needed.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, bid openings, and other project-related meetings as required.
- Assist with obtaining vendor and subcontractor pricing when applicable.
- Maintain accurate and organized estimating records, including bid history, proposals, insurance certificates, bid bonds, and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate with the Senior Estimator, Branch Manager, Operations, and other stakeholders to verify project scope, pricing, and operational requirements.
- Obtain required internal review and approval of bids prior to submission.
- Assist with tracking bid results and maintaining historical estimating information for future reference.
- Meet established bid deadlines while managing multiple projects and priorities.
- Maintain confidentiality of company pricing, customer information, and other sensitive business information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, specifications, and bid documents, or the ability and willingness to learn.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills with the ability to perform accurate quantity calculations.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams, customers, vendors, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to learn and effectively utilize estimating software and other company systems.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and organized project documentation.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in construction, estimating, project coordination, traffic control, civil construction, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience performing quantity takeoffs or reviewing construction plans and specifications preferred but not required.
- Experience using estimating software is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook, required.
- Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.
- Ability to remain in a stationary position and work at a computer for extended periods.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and through electronic communication.
- Ability to review construction drawings, plans, specifications, and electronic documents.
- Ability to travel to and safely navigate proposed or active construction sites as required.
- Ability to work in varying outdoor conditions during site visits when necessary.
