Junior Specialist for Environmental Health Research Project (LAS VOCES)
The Department of Environmental and Occupational Health, Joe C. Wen School of Population and Public Health at the University of California-Irvine seeks a Junior Specialist (Research Coordinator) for the Los AngeleS Voices On Community and Environment (LAS VOCES) Study.
We are seeking to hire a highly motivated and dedicated individual with a strong background in community engagement. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, strong time management and communication capabilities, and the ability to effectively collaborate within a large and diverse team. A strong sense of teamwork and a collaborative spirit are essential qualities that we highly value. This person will: 1) Lead the recruitment and enrollment of research participants, including attending community engagement events, conducting outreach activities, and handling the screening, consenting, and survey processes; 2) Work closely with the team on data collection, ensuring meticulous handling of data and data entry; 3) Assist with student coordination, providing support to student volunteers and participants; and 4) Support other related activities when needed, including research dissemination to participants. Familiarity with basic data analysis is desireable. Must have the ability to travel between community-based recruitment and data collection locations in South Los Angeles, CA. This person will collaborate closely with the Research Coordinators, community health workers and community-based organizations.
This position is grant funded. Position is renewable, contingent on satisfactory performance and funding availability. Review of applications will continue until the position is filled. Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
Basic Requirements:
1) Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Environmental Health orEnvironmental Science,
2) Excellent communication skills
3) Solid organizational abilities
4) Strong teamwork skills
5) Bilingual proficiency with Spanish fluency. Prior experience in community-based research focusing on environmental health equity and community-engaged research is highly desirable.
