Junior Laboratory Associate (Smith / Gainetdinov / Gibbs / Chen Labs)
The Smith, Gibbs, Gainetdinov, and Chen labs at NYU’s Department of Biology are looking for a highly motivated and independent individual to work as a Junior Laboratory Associate starting July 1, 2026. This position is based in New York and the selected candidate will be expected to work onsite as of their effective start date.
The Junior Laboratory Associate will support the daily research operations of four laboratories located on the same floor. This position is ideal for someone who is organized, reliable, communicative, and interested in gaining broad experience in an academic research environment.
Primary responsibilities will include preparing common media, buffers, and reagents for four research laboratories; maintaining accurate preparation records and reagent inventories; organizing shared supplies and storage areas; supporting routine maintenance of shared equipment; and helping maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized laboratory environment. The position may also include basic research support depending on experience and laboratory needs. The Smith, Gibbs, Gainetdinov, and Chen labs work on a variety of research topics. In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $60,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
The ideal candidate will have a BS or MS in Biology or a related field. At least 2 years of research experience are preferred.
