The University of Lorraine invites applications for a Junior Professorship Chair in phylogenomics and evolutionary biology, specializing in evolutionary biochemistry, paleobiochemistry, and protein engineering. The position is based within the "Stress Response and Redox Regulation" (SR3) team at UMR 1136 Tree-Microorganism Interactions (IAM).
Research Focus:
- Develop an evolutionary biochemistry program to investigate:
- Selection pathways of protein properties during evolution.
- Ancestral protein resurrection and functional comparison with modern proteins.
- Applications in protein engineering and synthetic biology for stress adaptation.
- Utilize SR3’s expertise in protein biochemistry and IAM’s facilities (bioinformatics, genomics, microscopy, cultivation platforms).
- Collaborate with Nancy’s research clusters (A2F agronomy-agroforestry hub, ARTEMIS project).
Teaching Duties:
- Develop and teach Master’s-level courses in:
- Phylogenomics
- Bioinformatics
- Evolutionary Biology
- Target Programs: Life Sciences, Agrosciences-Environment-Territories-Landscapes-Forest (AETPF), Microbiology.
- Teaching Load: 64 hours/year for 5 years.
- Contribute to the Orion project (promoting research careers among students).
Work Environment:
- UMR IAM: ~100 researchers (including bioinformaticians), with access to A2F platforms (molecular analysis, genomics, protein engineering).
- UL Support: Pedagogical training (DACIP), occupational health, teleworking, equality/diversity policies.
