Position Summary
Primary Responsibilities:
- Foster positive and professional interactions with staff, student workers, children and families
- Prepare and serve meals and snacks for children in the Center in accordance with established schedules
- Ensure all food preparation meets applicable food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
- Accommodate and monitor dietary needs and restrictions of children
- Prepare meals in appropriate quantities in compliance with the Child Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) requirements
- Maintain full compliance with all Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines and regulations
- Prepare and organize food carts based on meal requirements and classroom enrollment
- Transport meals to assigned classroom according to established schedule
- Clean and sanitize dishes, equipment and kitchen areas in accordance with state regulations
- Dispose of trash and maintain cleanliness of kitchen and service areas, including emptying large trash containers into dumpsters
- Complete all required training required for the position
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience in food service, childcare or related setting
- Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to follow guidelines set by the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)
- Ability to prepare and serve meals in a timely and efficient manner
- Strong communication skills with ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift and carry 25-50 pounds (food supplies, carts and equipment)
- Demonstrated reliability and consistent attendance
- Ability to interact in a positive and professional manner with children, families, and staff
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to customer service
