Position Summary

Primary Responsibilities:

• Foster positive and professional interactions with staff, student workers, children and families
• Prepare and serve meals and snacks for children in the Center in accordance with established schedules
• Ensure all food preparation meets applicable food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
• Accommodate and monitor dietary needs and restrictions of children
• Prepare meals in appropriate quantities in compliance with the Child Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) requirements
• Maintain full compliance with all Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines and regulations
• Prepare and organize food carts based on meal requirements and classroom enrollment
• Transport meals to assigned classroom according to established schedule
• Clean and sanitize dishes, equipment and kitchen areas in accordance with state regulations
• Dispose of trash and maintain cleanliness of kitchen and service areas, including emptying large trash containers into dumpsters
• Complete all required training required for the position

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Experience in food service, childcare or related setting
• Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices
• Ability to follow guidelines set by the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)
• Ability to prepare and serve meals in a timely and efficient manner
• Strong communication skills with ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to lift and carry 25-50 pounds (food supplies, carts and equipment)
• Demonstrated reliability and consistent attendance
• Ability to interact in a positive and professional manner with children, families, and staff
• Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to customer service
