DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Setting up genetic crosses,
2. Processing samples for morphological analysis
3. Collecting and analyzing data

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES*:

• Knowledge of: Drosophila husbandry, Cryosectioning, Immunofluorescence analysis, Confocal Microscopy, Polymerase Chain Reaction and Isolation nucleic acids

Job Summary

Performs independent research in the field of Genetics, Molecular and Cellular Biology. Provides technical support for research activities. Responsible for supervising undergraduate students engaged in research.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Engages in research activity: design and perform experiments, record and analyze data
2. Assists in the preparation of reports, presentations, and manuscripts
3. Supervises undergraduate research projects
4. Assists with laboratory maintenance and organization

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in the area of study

Required Experience
One (1) year relevant experience doing independent research in Drosophila genetics.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Experience
Experience training and supervising undergraduate students
Experience in writing and preparing scientific manuscripts

Preferred Educational Qualifications
An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field
