Laboratory Coordinator, Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (Full Time)
Position Highlights
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the College of Medicine - Tucson seeks a talented Laboratory Coordinator to support translational research in the field of lymphoma biomarkers and biobanking activities for a regional biorepository (RBR) as part of a large consortium. The ideal candidate will perform work under direction and guidance from supervisor, possess basic skills and knowledge of molecular biology and pathology techniques and related equipment such as nucleic acid isolation, PCR, gene expression profiling, cell culture, immunohistochemistry, and microscopy while contributing to standard operating procedures (SOPs), embracing a culture of safety, communicating clearly across multiple levels (faculty, staff, and administration), organizing and maintaining biobank inventory, demonstrating exceptional attention to detail, and providing insight for troubleshooting moderately complex problems.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist and coordinate biobanking activities, such as sample logistics, sample processing/shipping, and storage.
- Communicates regular status updates in writing or orally.
- Monitors equipment to ensure specimen and reagent stability and ensures documentation is complete and organized.
- Contribute to development and performance of molecular and/or pathology-related techniques such as embedding, sectioning, immunohistochemistry, cell culture, and PCR with detailed record-keeping for use as quality control for biobanked inventory.
- Work with supervisor and other laboratory staff to design, develop, adapt, and apply technical procedures, equipment, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to biobanking and translational development of lymphoma biomarkers.
- Works with senior staff to perform molecular biology techniques such as nucleic acid isolation, PCR, and gene expression profiling. Maintains organized laboratory records.
- Perform and record routine equipment maintenance and calibration for sophisticated scientific equipment.
- Write, edit, and/or present abstracts and manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications as well as scientific presentations (poster or platform).
