Job Summary
The Department of Animal and Food Sciences in the Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment is seeking a highly motivated Laboratory Technician to join the Animal, Molecular and Cellular Physiology (AMCP) group. The AMCP group is a close-knit team of innovative researchers united by a shared methodological and philosophical approach to scientific discovery and graduate training. Together, the group investigates fundamental mechanisms underlying reproductive, gastrointestinal, metabolic, and immune physiology across three major livestock species: sheep, cattle, and swine.
About the Role
In this dynamic, hands-on role, you’ll be involved in supporting cutting-edge research—engaging in a diverse mix of laboratory science, animal studies, and data-driven discovery. From collecting and processing biological samples to performing laboratory analyses that help answer fundamental questions in animal physiology you’ll apply a wide range of techniques, including molecular biology methods, histological sectioning, staining and imaging, chemical and nutrition-related analyses, and cell culture. Your work will directly support innovative research through large-animal tissue and cell collection, assistance with procedures, and meticulous sample preparation and preservation.
You’ll play a vital role in maintaining a high-performing research environment—overseeing laboratory organization, inventory management, safety compliance, and data analysis.
