Laboratory Technologist, Makers@SoC

Job Purpose

The role of the Lab Officer is to:

  • Maintain lab equipment including 3D printers, a laser cutter, CNC mill, soldering equipment and other equipment like oscilloscopes, power supplies and signal generators, etc
  • To coordinate with the Office for Risk Management and Compliance (ORMC) on safety and compliance matters
  • To supervise students
  • To help students with usage of lab equipment

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • To maintain lab equipment and to ensure the cleanliness of the lab
  • To produce and to enforce safety standards in accordance to ORMC guidelines and requirements
  • To supervise students to ensure safety
  • To help students who are facing issues using the lab equipment
  • To produce training videos when necessary, e.g. relating to safety
  • To assist professors who use the lab for their courses to distribute/collect kits, etc
  • To assist the Director of Makers@SoC as needed

2 years contract. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Computing, Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience in running a lab
  • Knowledge of 3D printers, laser cutters and other Maker equipment a big benefit
