Join us as a Landscape Field Lead (LFL) and take a hands-on role in shaping and maintaining the beauty and functionality of NC State University's landscape! As an LFL, you'll lead and guide a dedicated team of 6-12 technical staff, ensuring top-notch landscape quality, safety, and training on best practices.
Key responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:
- Advise the team on landscape management tasks, frequencies, and quality standards
- Evaluate site conditions to identify pest and disease issues, providing input to the Landscape Zone Superintendent (LZS)
- Offer advice and technical assistance on best horticultural practices
- Implement departmental initiatives such as Work Well, sustainability programs, and turf and chemical reduction
- Serve as a training resource within the unit, providing input and direction to Superintendents, Managers, and landscape architects on the needs and special requirements of the assigned area
- Oversee related equipment, implementing and sustaining the use of electric-powered equipment
- Act as a working lead, assisting with all daily activities
- Serve as a backup to the Zone Manager or assist with other areas as needed
- Lift and transport materials weighing up to 60 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations and perform physically demanding outdoor tasks safely in various weather and terrain conditions.
- Ability to verbally communicate effectively with supervisors and the general public and understand verbal and written instructions and other communications regarding work assignments and other matters.
Other Work/Responsibilities:
- Aid in snow removal as directed by supervisors.
- Position serves in a critical role and is essential to the operations of the University. May be required to work during adverse weather conditions and work even if the University closes.
