Learning and Knowledge Support Lead

The Cambridge Research Office sits at the heart of the University's research mission, supporting academics and professional services colleagues to deliver exceptional, compliant and impactful research.

We are seeking a Learning and Knowledge Support Lead to play a pivotal role in how learning, training and knowledge are designed, delivered and sustained across the research support community.

This is an exciting opportunity to build and lead an integrated Learning & Knowledge Support function, bringing together training programmes, guidance content and digital platforms into clear, accessible and high�quality support.

About the role

As Learning and Knowledge Support Lead, you will:

  • Lead the development and delivery of a coordinated learning and knowledge support offer spanning research administration, systems, financial management and compliance
  • Work closely with subject matter experts across the Research Office and departments to identify capability gaps and translate expertise into effective learning and guidance
  • Ensure training and guidance are consistent, accessible, well designed and aligned to institutional priorities
  • Oversee learning platforms and content governance, creating a clear "front door" to research training and guidance
  • Use data, feedback and insight to continuously improve learning materials and approaches
  • Line manage and support a small team, setting priorities and building a resilient, collaborative learning service

This role is both strategic and hands on: you'll shape direction while also ensuring delivery works well day to day.

You'll bring:

  • Experience designing and delivering high quality training or learning programmes
  • Strong instructional design skills and an understanding of inclusive, accessible learning
  • Confidence working with digital learning platforms (e.g. LMS, SharePoint or similar)
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical experts
  • A pragmatic, collaborative approach and a commitment to continuous improvement

If you want to help shape a critical Learning & Knowledge Support function for Research Administration in the Research Office, this role offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact on how learning and knowledge are delivered across the University.

We aim to support hybrid working, whilst retaining the positive aspects of our unique in-person environment and culture. Elements of this role are suitable for hybrid working, where staff can split their time between in-person collaboration and remote working. This role requires onsite attendance in Cambridge for a minimum of two days per week. This arrangement is subject to change and will not form a part of the contractual terms of the role
