Lecturer/Assistant Professor of History or Political Science
Job Summary
Dalton State College invites applications for a full-time, 10-month faculty position in History or Political Science, beginning on August 1, 2026. Depending on experience and qualifications, the appointment will be made at either the tenure-track Assistant Professor or Lecturer level. (Contingent upon funding.)
Teaching responsibilities include 24-27 credit hours per academic year for tenure-track faculty or 27 credit hours per academic year for lecturers. Courses may be offered during the day, evening, online, or at off-campus locations.
Preference for the first position will be given to candidates with experience teaching Early American History. For the second position, preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching General American History, American Government, or first-year seminars. The second position is contingent upon funding.
Responsibilities
- Teach courses at the undergraduate level.
- Academic advising and mentoring students.
- Participate in service activities in the department, college, community, and other appropriate activities related to the field of expertise.
- Engage students in undergraduate research projects.
Required Qualifications
Applicants must hold an earned masters degree from an accredited institution with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in the teaching discipline or closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Earned doctorate
- College classroom teaching experience.
- Experience or interest in supervising undergraduate research
