Job Duties:
ATTENTION:
The College of Integrated Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater at Rock County seeks a Lecturer who will teach both biology and chemistry courses for the 2026 fall semester (Lecturer, TL020).
This will be a fixed-term appointment. Reappointment for subsequent terms is dependent upon the needs of the University, funding, staffing requirements, enrollment, and external forces. For information on fixed-term contracts, please see UW System Admin Policy 1250: Job Security.
Courses that are to be taught will include:
- BIO 101 – Concepts of Biology (lecture and laboratory components)
- CHE 125 – Introductory Chemistry (lecture and laboratory components)
- CHE 145 – General Chemistry (lecture and laboratory components)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The selected candidate, in addition to teaching responsibilities, will hold appropriate office hours, attend orientation activities, and perform required course administration. All students, faculty, and staff are required to ensure their materials are digitally accessible and utilize standard technology platforms supported by UW-Whitewater. Examples include, but are not limited to, Navigate, Canvas, and Microsoft Office applications – including Outlook, which is essential for university email communications and scheduling.
DEPARTMENT INFORMATION:
The Department of Integrated Studies is the singular department within the College of Integrated Studies located on the Rock County campus of the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater in Janesville, Wisconsin. Started in 1966, the campus has approximately 850 students and offers courses in many disciplines including natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, and fine arts. CONDITIONS OF APPOINTMENT:
University of Wisconsin-Whitewater does not offer H-1B or other work authorization visa sponsorship for this position. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain work authorization throughout the employment term. Key Job Responsibilities:
- Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance
- Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction
- Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations
Department: The College of Integrated Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater at Rock County.
Compensation:
Salary is based on a 9-month full-time (100% FTE) contract of $50,000 dependent on number of courses taught as well as commensurate with the candidate's education, related experience, and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:
- A Master’s Degree in Chemistry -or- a Master’s Degree in Biology -and- courses taken in both fields.
- A Master's Degree in a related field and 18 graduate credit hours in chemistry -or- biology.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preference will be given to candidates with successful college course teaching experience.

- Ability to interact respectfully with people with diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
- Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills.
