Job Summary:
The Lecturer is to teach courses in Business with a primary focus on Marketing, Professional Communication and courses within our newly developed Gig Economy Certificate. Develops, implements, and maintains currency of courses, programs, and curricula in assigned program/discipline. This is an in person position.
Essential Functions:
- Designs and delivers effective instruction as assigned through traditional and distance-based formats, using course outlines approved by the College Curriculum Council.
- Advises students within academic discipline (or closely related field) and holds posted office hours, as required by contract.
- In collaboration with departmental colleagues, designs/selects and implements appropriate assessment of student learning at the course and program level.
- In collaboration with department chair or chair’s designee, selects and orders course textbooks in a timely fashion.
- Submits contract, grades, and other required paperwork within prescribed timelines.
- Recommends equipment and software needs to Instructional Division Dean.
- Develops and maintains relationships with appropriate external constituencies (e.g., area high schools, community agencies, advisory committees).
- Collaborates with instructional administration in conducting program/discipline area reviews and other continuous improvement activities in teaching and learning, including periodic curriculum reviews.
- Effectively integrates the use of instructional technology in instruction, when appropriate.
- Remains current in the discipline taught as well as in current trends in teaching methodologies for their specific discipline.
- Participates in graduation exercises.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Specifications:
- Master’s degree (MA or MS) in Marketing OR Master’s degree (MA or MS) in a closely related field (e.g., Business Administration) with 18 graduate hours in Marketing required.
- At least two years of full-time, non-teaching professional experience in Marketing or a closely related field required within the past five years.
- Must be highly motivated and self-directed in building a high-quality educational program and relationships with business, industry, education, and community partners
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
OTHER HIGHLY DESIRED QUALITIES:
- Two years of experience teaching business-related courses at a community college or university serving a diverse group of students.
- Teaching experience in higher education or professional training environments.
- Experience with alternate instructional delivery methods including online, remote learning, and hybrid courses preferred.
- Skilled in integrating instructional technology.
- Ability to design and implement effective assessment strategies for measuring student learning
- Commitment to staying current with industry trends and best practices.
Grade:
Salary Range: $40,000 - $51,000
