Position Summary

The Lecturer (Early Career Faculty)/ Assistant Professor will serve as a Teaching Focused Academic (TFA) responsible for delivering, coordinating, and developing academic programs in finance and related disciplines.

The role involves teaching undergraduate and postgraduate finance programs within the Victoria University Business School, with a strong emphasis on industry-integrated learning, curriculum innovation, and student engagement.

The appointee will contribute significantly to teaching excellence, curriculum development, and academic coordination, while also engaging in research and scholarly activities in finance and related areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver finance subjects at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
• Design and develop industry-relevant curriculum and learning materials
• Facilitate teaching in face-to-face, online, and blended formats
• Assess student learning and provide timely, constructive feedback
• Contribute to curriculum innovation and subject coordination
• Engage with industry to enhance classroom learning and real-world exposure
• Conduct research and publish in high-quality academic journals
• Support supervision of postgraduate research students (Masters/PhD)
• Participate in academic administration, moderation, and validation activities
• Provide academic support to international partnerships and stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with academic policies and quality standards

Qualifications & Selection Criteria

Essential

• Assistant Professor: PhD (or equivalent) Finance and or a related discipline.
• Lecturer (Early Career Faculty): Master’s degree and/or currently a PhD candidate in Finance, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in teaching (face-to-face, online, or blended)
• Strong expertise in finance, economics, or accounting
• Experience in curriculum development and subject coordination
• Evidence of research and academic publications
• Ability to engage students in a dynamic and collaborative learning environment
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
• Commitment to teaching excellence and university vision

Desirable

• Recent industry experience in finance or related sectors
• Proficiency with business and financial technology tool
