Background and Context

The Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) is a well-established centre for education, research and scholarly activity in health care and is committed to driving innovation and improving the wellbeing of society. Working in close partnership with local and national health and social care providers, the Faculty delivers high quality, research informed and practice focused programmes that prepare the next generation of health professionals for real world challenges. Our Faculty’s main base is on the main University Cottingham Road campus, and the Lecturer post sits within the School of Health Care which incorporates Nursing and Midwifery, Paramedical, Peri-operative and Advanced Practice. The schools aim to be national leaders in innovative health professional education, leadership and enterprise, and is leading the future of education through immersive simulated practice learning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and a strong culture of inclusivity, sustainability and excellence across Nursing and Midwifery, Paramedical, Peri-operative and Advanced Practice disciplines.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities of the post

This band 8 Lecturer role will contribute across our existing portfolio of healthcare education programmes, including Nursing, Allied Health Professions (AHP), Non-Medical Prescribing (NMP) and Advanced Practice. This cross-disciplinary role will support the development and delivery of teaching and learning that reflects the nature of modern health care. As part of this, the postholder will work collaboratively with colleagues to expand the faculty’s simulation portfolio, ensuring innovative, evidence informed approaches are embedded across programmes to reflect authentic clinical complexity and interprofessional practice. We are seeking an experienced practitioner with an acute care and ideally a critical care background, who can bring clinical expertise and professional insight to the academic environment. Applicants may come from NMC, HCPC, GPhC professional backgrounds and should hold some level 7 education in a relevant subject area. Experience in teaching and a recognised Advance HE accreditation would be advantageous but not essential.
