Lecturer in Management (Teaching and Scholarship)

The School for Business and Society (SBS) at the University of York is seeking to appoint two Lecturers in Management (Teaching & Scholarship) on a 12-month fixed term basis, to join one of the following subject groups: People, Work and Employment; Management and Organisation Studies; Marketing, International Business and Entrepreneurship. SBS is a dynamic interdisciplinary school, uniquely positioned to lead business and public policy action on complex social and environmental challenges. We bring together expertise across management, business, accounting, finance, marketing, social policy and social work to pioneer an interdisciplinary approach for the public good – empowering students and staff to drive positive change. Role
You will deliver high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in management, drawing on expertise that links to the key research and teaching areas of the School and builds on its mission to address complex global challenges. You will design and deliver engaging and innovative learning experiences. Responsibilities include lecturing and conducting seminars in a relevant management topic, setting and marking assessments, providing constructive feedback, supervising student projects, and contributing to curriculum review and development. You will also play an active role in module administration, programme planning, and the collegial life of the department, while investigating and disseminating best practices in teaching and learning scholarship.
Skills, Experience & Qualification needed
- A PhD in Management (or related discipline), or equivalent experience
- Extensive knowledge of Business and Management as a discipline, with a demonstrable sustainability focus, and proven experience of teaching and learning in higher education at undergraduate or postgraduate level.
- Highly developed communication skills, the ability to innovate in teaching and learning, and the capacity to present specialist material in an engaging and accessible way.
- Ability to plan and deliver high-quality teaching across a range of modules in the management field, use diverse delivery techniques to engage students, and demonstrate a collaborative, collegial approach to working with colleagues and students alike.
