Lecturer of Education
Texas Lutheran University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position in the Division of Education to support our Undergrad Educator Preparation Program and Alternative Certification Program, starting Fall 2026.
Requirements for the position include:
- Master’s or Doctorate degree in Education or a closely related discipline;
- Active SBEC K-12 certification with 5+ years’ K-12 teaching experience in the areas identified for the position;
- Active SBEC K-12 Principal and/or Superintendent certification with 5+ years administration experience (campus and/or district administrator);
- Ability to teach a variety of courses at the undergraduate level with experience in the areas of early childhood education, reading literacy education and the science of teaching reading, and/or math literacy and science K-12 education;
- Experience and capability of serving in a leadership role that supports student teachers and organizes field experience opportunities;
- Capability and interest in advising student majors for success;
- Commitment to working collegially within the department and with representatives of other disciplines and programs on campus;
- Desire to cultivate respect, responsibility, and resourcefulness as a role model;
- Commitment to continued professional development; and
- Understanding and support of the mission of Texas Lutheran University.
Preference will be given to candidates who meet the required qualifications and offer the following:
- Experience in teaching undergraduate courses in a teacher preparation program, in-person and online;
- Experience in teaching master’s level classes related to education and/or curriculum and instruction;
- Active SBEC K-12 Special Education and/or SBEC English as a Second Language Supplemental TExES Certifications;
- Experience in supervising pre-service teachers in student teaching and/or intern clinical teaching roles; and
- Interest and capability to teach a variety of courses as noted below:
- Children’s Literacy (READ 270)
- Foundations of Literacy (READ 332)
- Reading Assessment (READ 376)
- Exploring Teaching (EDUC 111)
- Applications of Technology (EDUC 272)
- Foundations of Education (EDUC 331)
- Diversity for Educators (EDUC 336)
- Intro. to Early Childhood Education (EDUC 371)
- Survey of Special Populations (EDUC 373)
- Additional Special Education Classes (TBD) – Needed to support SPED cert. for new EC-6 Core Certification of ESL Education (EDUC 374)
- ESL in the Content Areas (EDUC 375)
- General Science Concepts (EDUC 378) and General Science Concepts Lab (EDUC 378L)
- Mathematics for the Child (EDUC 382)
- Elementary Social Studies (EDUC 384)
- Literacy Across the Content Areas (READ 436)
- Reading and Writing Across the Curriculum (READ 475)
The Division of Education currently includes the following programs: Undergrad Educator Preparation Program, Alternative Teacher Certification Program, Master of Arts in Education Program, and an EdD Program in Interdisciplinary Leadership.
