Academic Level B/C/D, Base Salary $127,436 - $207,069 p.a. + 17% superannuation
About the position
The School of History and Philosophy of Science is seeking to fill two full-time academic positions at the level of Lecturer / Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor in History and Philosophy of Science, to join the School's vibrant research and teaching community.
We are particularly interested in candidates working in the areas of early modern science, or science or medicine in Asia, or Indigenous knowledge systems. Successful candidates will dedicate 40% of their contribution to teaching-related activities, 40% to research-related activities, and 20% to governance, leadership, and engagement.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- contribute to the School's research activities, expertise, and impact
- design, coordinate, and teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses
- provide mentoring and supervision to undergraduate and graduate students
- contribute to teaching and learning practice, design and evaluation within the School and Faculty
- engage in leadership and service roles across the School and Faculty
- maintain quality, integrity and excellence in all research activities and outputs.
About you

We see the importance of recruiting talent aligned to these values and are looking for a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor in History and Philosophy of Science who has:
- a PhD in History and Philosophy of Science or related fields including STS, History, Philosophy, Asian Studies, Indigenous Studies
- an excellent research profile evidenced by original, high-quality and independent research (relative to opportunity)
- teaching experience including course design, coordination, delivery, and assessment
- the capacity to engage students and enable a supportive, inclusive learning environment
- experience supervising students at Honours, Masters and PhD level (relative to opportunity)
- excellent interpersonal skills and collegial behaviour of a very high standard.
