About the Role

Swinburne is seeking a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience to join our high-performing academic team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to world-class teaching, impactful research, and innovative curriculum design within a collaborative and future-focused environment.

Depending on your experience, you will contribute at either Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level across teaching, research, and curriculum development in cognitive neuroscience. In this role, you will:

  • Deliver engaging undergraduate and postgraduate teaching 
  • Design and enhance contemporary, industry-relevant curriculum 
  • Conduct high-quality, impactful research 
  • Supervise undergraduate, postgraduate, and higher degree research students 
  • Contribute to academic administration and professional activities 

At Senior Lecturer level, you will also:

  • Lead courses and coordinate teaching teams 
  • Provide academic leadership and mentorship to colleagues and students 
  • Foster stronger links with industry and external partners (national and international) 
  • Create and expand opportunities for student engagement in research beyond coursework 

About the Department

The Department of Psychological Sciences, within the School of Health Sciences, is recognised for excellence in both teaching and research. Our research is nationally and internationally recognised and we continue to advance innovation in psychology and cognitive neuroscience.

We work closely with the Centre for Mental Health and Brain Sciences and Swinburne’s world-leading Neuroimaging Facility—the only single-site human imaging facility in Australia and New Zealand offering MEG, MRI, and EEG.

About You

You are a collaborative and motivated academic with expertise in cognitive neuroscience and a passion for teaching and research. For both levels of appointment, you will bring:

  • Proven research experience using cognitive neuroscience methodologies (e.g. MRI, MEG, EEG) 
  • A strong (Lecturer) or established (Senior Lecturer) track record of publications 
  • Experience teaching in a university setting 
  • Ability to contribute across a broad range of undergraduate and postgraduate offerings 
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach 

In addition, at Senior Lecturer level you will demonstrate:

  • Leadership experience in higher education, including course or program coordination 
  • Experience supervising undergraduate research projects and fostering student research engagement 
  • A strong ability to build and maintain industry and disciplinary links 
  • A track record of mentoring staff and contributing to a positive team culture

Qualifications

A PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in psychology or related discipline.
