Description of Job Function

1. Designs, prepares, and delivers instruction in information literacy, research skills, and current library-related technologies to students, faculty, and staff in all modalities.
2. Works closely with full-time librarians, faculty, and staff to support the development of curriculum and instructional materials.
3. Supports the development of instructional materials and provides timely, constructive feedback to support student learning, information literacy, and research competencies. Collaborates with faculty and staff to embed library instruction and resources into curriculum across disciplines and delivery modes.
4. Works closely with faculty and staff to develop curriculum and instructional materials in cooperation with academic leadership.
5. Supports collection development in partnership with full-time faculty librarians by selecting, deselecting, and evaluating library resources and materials, promoting access to a variety of instructional materials in alignment with academic needs.
6. Provides feedback for the planning, assessment, and continuous improvement of library services, programs, and institutional initiatives in partnership with librarians.
7. Provides a welcoming, responsive, and learning-centered library environment that fosters academic success, student engagement, scholarly inquiry, and positive experiences through collaboration, exploration, and independent study.
8. Ensures compliance with college policies and accreditation standards.
9. Participates in committees and work teams as needed.
10. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Education

Master's Degree from a regionally accredited institution, or any equivalent combination of related education, training, and/or experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions.

Required Field of Study

Library Science from an ALA accredited program.

Preferred Type of Experience

Reference experience in an academic library.

Experience in library instruction and conducting library research.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

1. Knowledge and understanding of learning-centered values.
2. Knowledge of the principles and practices of collection development and evaluation.
3. Ability to deliver engaging instruction across formats and audiences, including workshops, embedded sessions, and one-on-one consultations.
4. Skilled in designing inclusive teaching strategies that support varied learning styles and foster both knowledge, acquisition and practical application.
5. Ability to use consistent, timely formative and summative assessment measures to enhance learning.
6. Ability to effectively implement innovative technologies and flexible teaching methods, such as online and hybrid formats, educational software, and digital enhancements.
7. Ability to provide guidance and direction to library staff and student workers.
8. Ability to use technology and multiple software programs including Microsoft Office.
9. Ability to effectively communicate interpersonally, orally, and in writing.

General Working Conditions

This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. The employee will routinely operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, keyboards, mouse, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. Typical physical competencies include but are not limited to frequently remaining stationary, moving, reaching, positioning self and occasionally ascending/descending, lifting/moving objects weighing between 5-15 pounds. This job also entails frequently communicating, discerning and exchanging information, detecting and perceiving objects up close, at a distance, and the ability to adjust focus.
