SALARY RANGE: $24.00-$26.75
HIRING RANGE: Anticipated hiring range is near or at the minimum of the classification, commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

Definition of Classification
Library Technical Assistants (LTAs) foster learning and community by connecting the University of Redlands community and visitors with information resources, space, programming, and services. The LTA Resource Sharing Specialist serves as a member of the Access Services team, reports to the Access Services Librarian, and leads the daily operation of resource sharing. This position serves as the lead student supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities
RESOURCE SHARING
- Manage borrowing and lending requests across various resource sharing systems and cooperative efforts with other libraries.
- Interpret library e-resource licensing agreements, comply with U.S copyright law, and apply resource sharing best practices.
- Coordinate requests across University libraries.
- Research, verify, and troubleshoot bibliographic information.
- Provide access to free or open access resources when available.
- Assess cooperatives and library lending policies to optimize the duration of loans and reduce costs.
- Communicate with borrowers and lenders regarding overdue, lost, and recalled items.
- Explore alternative borrowing and lending technologies as needed.
- Compile and analyze borrowing and lending statistics.
LEAD SUPERVISOR OF STUDENT LIBRARY CLERKS
- Enrich the Library’s student employment experience through programming for student employees and supervisors.
- Coordinate with Student Employment to recruit and assess library clerks.
- Coordinate the hiring, training, mentoring, and evaluation of library clerks.
- Analyze and manage the student employment budget.
- Develop and manage student employee work schedules.
- Create new and update existing documentation.
- Analyze front desk data to assess library clerk performance.
- Oversee frontline services by student employees.
OPERATIONS
- Oversee technical and daily operations that include circulation, management of patron accounts, first-level reference assistance, stacks maintenance, data collection, opening and closing procedures.
- Conduct regular walk throughs to welcome library users.
- Contribute and implement ideas that welcome and engage library users.
- Manage expenditures to adhere to budget guidelines.
- Observe University and Library policies and procedures.
Qualification Guidelines
Required:
- One of the following: Certificate in library science with two (2) years of recent full-time library or higher education work experience; Bachelor’s degree with one (1) year of recent full-time library work experience; Associate’s degree with two (2) years of recent full-time library work experience; or High school diploma with four (4) years of recent full-time library work experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading a team in a formal or informal capacity.
Preferred:
- Two (2) years of experience working in an academic library.
- Experience hiring, training, and supervising college or university student assistants.
- Experience working with OCLC’s World Management Services (WMS), OCLC Tipasa, Springshare’s LibAnswers, Microsoft 365, Canva, and Canvas.
