Light Equipment Operator
Under general supervision, operates a number of light duty motorized vehicles. Performs general landscape maintenance functions.
Typical Duties
- Drives and operates a truck, van and a variety of landscape and snow removal vehicles and equipment.
- Sets up vehicles and equipment for use, and performs simple adjustments.
- Loads and unloads equipment onto vehicles.
- Maintains records of mileage and fuel used on vehicles.
- Works on campus cleaning, snow and ice removal, and moving details using appropriate vehicles and equipment.
- Trims, cuts and waters grass and flowers, rakes leaves, lay sod; plants flowers, shrubs and trees.
- Other related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements for Selection
Education: Completion of grade 12 or equivalent. WHMIS, and Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certificate required or willingness to obtain Certifications.
Experience: Three years' experience driving related vehicles is preferred.
Other: Possession of Ontario Class "G" driver's license in good standing. Physical ability to perform required duties. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written). Works under all weather conditions and may be required to work long and various hours. Good interpersonal skills including tact, courtesy and diplomacy. Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
