Located in downtown Toronto, the largest and most culturally diverse city in Canada and on the territory of the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee, Mississaugas of the Credit and the Wendat Peoples, the RTA School of Media in The Creative School at Toronto Metropolitan University invites applications for a Limited Term Faculty (LTF) position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of Media Production with an emphasis on producing. The appointment shall be effective July 1, 2026 for a one year term, subject to final budgetary approval.

The successful candidate will engage only in the teaching and service duties of faculty members in the School while maintaining an inclusive, equitable, and collegial work environment across such activities. The candidate will contribute to our undergraduate (BA) program through teaching, mentoring and supervision of students to facilitate junior scholars and diversify the field.

Candidates must have completed their Master’s degree in media or a related field and have a research agenda, media industry experience, and/or creative practice in which media production forms a significant focus. PhD, terminal degree, or professional degree preferred. This is a one-year appointment with a teaching load of 3 + 3 and some service obligations. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will teach RTA 315 Business of Creative Media and RTA 210 Media History.

In addition, the successful candidate must present evidence of:

  • demonstrated capacity for teaching excellence at all levels of the undergraduate curriculum including experience teaching large lectures (60 plus). This capacity should be evidenced by a teaching dossier that includes a teaching philosophy statement, experience with course and curriculum review and/or development, examples of best practices in pedagogy, including effective use of classroom technology and any experience with experiential learning, sample syllabi, strong teaching evaluations, teaching awards, and other relevant achievements in teaching;
  • strong commitment to our values of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion as it pertains to teaching and service activities, including a demonstrated ability to make learning accessible and inclusive for a diverse student population; and,
  • an ability and willingness to contribute to the life of the RTA School of Media and the University through collegial service. Experience in University or college level program administration, student advisement, service and/or program curricular development and review is required.

Note: Limited Term Faculty appointments at Toronto Metropolitan University may not exceed a combined total of four years. Applicants with prior Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) LTF appointments need to consider this limitation, as it may render them ineligible to apply.
