Maintenance Mechanic, I
Perform maintenance and repair tasks on a variety of equipment and machinery. Requires little to no related experience. This is an Entry-Level position in the Support track.
Maintenance Mechanic, II
Perform maintenance and repair tasks on a variety of equipment and machinery. Requires at least 1 year of related experience. This is an Intermediate Level position in the Support track.
Maintenance Mechanic, III
Perform maintenance and repair tasks on a variety of equipment and machinery. Requires 3+ years of related experience. This is a Skilled Level position in the Support track.
Additional Responsibilities
- Responds to trouble calls from building occupants and computer alarms.
- Monitor building automation systems (BAS) and respond to system alerts and failures.
- Reviews alarm summaries and makes building system adjustments on the Building Automation Systems.
- Documents daily building system problems.
- Utilize work management system software to maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on building HVAC equipment such as: chillers, boilers, cooling towers, pumps, VAV boxes, fan coil units, and air handler units.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on building electrical systems such as: motors, VFDs, ATS, lighting, controls, and generators.
- Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve system inefficiencies.
- Actively step up and provide suggestions and recommendations on repairing or replacing aging equipment and assets.
- Assist in the installation and commissioning of new mechanical systems and equipment.
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors during construction or renovation projects.
- Fosters an environment of teamwork and growth within the department.
- Work collaboratively with individuals internal and external to the department.
- Adhere to OSHA, state, and University safety protocols in all maintenance activities.
- Participate in ongoing training and certification programs.
- This position is considered ‘critical staff' and is expected to participate in emergency management.
- This position will participate in a 24/7 on call rotation, and is responsible for both employee's safety and facilities day and night when assigned on-call duty.
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience.
