Making Connections: Anatomical design in tissue engineering applications
About the Project
Are you interested in how anatomy can help shape tissue engineering approaches to improve healthcare?
We are currently inviting applications from enthusiastic individuals with a background in anatomy and/or tissue engineering to join our team of anatomical tissue engineers. We have a strong focus on the musculoskeletal system and building new tissues in the laboratory (e.g. bone, tendon, ligament) as well as generating in vitro models to help establish modes of repair or regeneration following injury.
Typical areas for investigation are listed below, but the applicant is encouraged to develop ideas with the potential supervisor for this project.
- Design and manufacture of bespoke scaffold-based approaches for tendon and ligament repair.
- Musculoskeletal tissue engineering using bioassembly techniques.
- Investigating biomaterial options for musculoskeletal tissue engineering
Applicants are expected to have at least a 2:1 (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline. Further application requirements can be found in the link below Anatomical Sciences (Biomedical Sciences)
Interested applicants should contact Dr Paxton with their CV and a statement of interest to discuss the post before submitting an official application.
Funding Notes
Please not this is not a funded studentship position. Applicants with fully funded scholarships are invited to apply.
