About the Role

We’re seeking two exceptional Manager, Academic Services to join us in pivotal leadership roles supporting either the School of Engineering or the School of Social Sciences, Media, Film and Education.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, School Operations, you’ll lead a team of Academic Support Officers to deliver seamless, high-quality administrative and operational support. At the heart of the School, you’ll work in close partnership with the School Executive, academic departments, and research centres—ensuring teaching and research activities run smoothly and effectively.

This is a highly collaborative and influential role. You’ll connect across central University teams to deliver integrated support, while also driving continuous improvement. From refining processes to implementing new ways of working, you’ll play a key role in shaping how academic services are delivered now and into the future.

Your work will directly support academic staff, enhance the student experience, and contribute to the success of a forward-thinking, future-focused School.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Academic Support Officers, fostering a culture of service excellence
  • Collaborate with School leadership to ensure compliance with University and School policies, processes, and procedures
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to deliver cohesive support across teaching and research functions
  • Design and implement improved systems, standards, and workflows to support strategic objectives
  • Contribute to University-wide initiatives and continuous improvement programs
  • Oversee operational planning, prioritisation, and resource management within the team

About You

You’re a confident and capable leader who thrives in complexity and enjoys turning strategy into action. You bring a balance of big-picture thinking and hands-on delivery, along with:

  • Significant experience in a senior administrative or operational role, with a focus on planning, innovation, and leadership
  • A proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams
  • Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with confidence interpreting and communicating complex policies and procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across diverse stakeholders
  • Experience overseeing financial processes and resource management
  • Experience within a university or similar environment, with an understanding of the evolving higher education landscape

Qualifications

A degree with subsequent relevant experience; or extensive experience and specialist expertise or broad knowledge in technical or administrative fields; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
