The Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) is a policy think-tank at the National University of Singapore. The Institute analyses public policy; facilitates connections among thought leaders; communicates its findings to a broad audience; and provides a platform for mature, open and insightful discussion on Singapore’s challenges, options and direction.

IPS is seeking to appoint a Manager (Development). The primary responsibilities include supporting the Institute’s fundraising efforts, focusing on strengthening relationships with existing donors and cultivating new donors through platforms such as the IPS Corporate Associates Programme, IPS research programmes, major campaigns for flagship events such as Singapore Perspectives and other special projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the management and execution of the Institute’s fundraising strategy.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward gifts to advance the Institute’s priorities.
  • Manage a portfolio of IPS donors and prospects, achieving individual and team fundraising targets.
  • Partner with leadership and research colleagues to engage donors through tailored cultivation and solicitation plans and develop compelling fundraising proposals.
  • Build and maintain a robust donor pipeline through prospect research and qualification.
  • Support donor engagement, stewardship and fundraising through the Corporate Associates (CA) Programme, including supporting the team in organising CA events and enhancing donor value through new initiatives and improvements.
  • Drive fundraising through other platforms, such as IPS research projects, major campaigns for flagship events such as Singapore Perspectives and special projects.
  • Work closely with internal teams on administrative and logistical requirements, including gift administration, database management and governance.
  • Assist with copy-editing and distribution of donor communications, including appeals and reports.
  • Support IPS-wide events and related ad hoc tasks.

Qualifications

  • At least 4–6 years of relevant experience in fundraising, donor relations or advancement, preferably in higher education, healthcare, the arts or the non-profit sector.
  • Proven track record in securing gifts and managing donor portfolios.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop persuasive proposals and compelling cases for support.
  • Confident in representing the Institute in donor and partner engagements.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
  • Strategic, analytical, results-driven and self-motivated.
  • Methodical, meticulous, and organized, with a strong aptitude for managing detailed administrative tasks.
  • Experience using CRM and donor management systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with strong working knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Access
