The Division of Information Technology at Virginia Tech provides computer and technology support and services to Virginia Tech students, faculty, staff, alumni, and visitors, with a focus on enhanced support for teaching and learning; participation and support for research activities; outreach, community partnerships, and advanced networking and communications; and access, security, and maintenance of information systems that allow the university to accomplish its missions.
There are six primary units in the Division of Information Technology: Advanced Research Computing; Governance, Planning and Strategy; User Experience and Engagement; Network Infrastructure and Services; Security and Identity; and Enterprise Solutions and Enabling Technologies. These units are funded through a combination of resources, including Educational and General funding (E&G), auxiliary enterprises, sponsored programs, non-central recovery and service centers.
The successful candidate will work in a collaborative and agile technology organization responsible for managing business and financial planning activities. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage billing processes for services of the University (departments, VT Foundation, capital, student, and private accounts), including bill processing, distribution, and all pre- and post-billing activities
- Manage revenue and recovery reporting and forecasting for budget preparation and submission, and current fiscal year forecasting
- Provide leadership, schedule work assignments, and cross-train fiscal staff in the anticipation of times of high volume and absences
- Review existing Division of IT processes for revenue and recovery, for relevance, completeness, and timeliness
Required Qualifications
● Master’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related field, or combination of education, training, and progressive experience that equates to a Master's degree.
● Experience supervising employees
● Experience creating and managing accounting and financial processes and procedures.
● Experience designing, developing, and analyzing financial reports.
● Effective oral and written communication skills.
● Proficiency with productivity software including Microsoft Excel (advanced skills), Word, PowerPoint, and query tools such as Power BI and Power Query, or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
● Knowledge of university administrative and accounting practices, and policies and procedures.
● Experience with higher education and/or Virginia Tech systems such as Banner, HokieMart, Emburse, ServiceNow, MicroStrategy, PageUp and Labor Redistribution.
