Responsibilities:

The manager provides specialized academic advising and support to double-degree and transfer students. This includes advising on academic requirements and degree planning, supporting students who experience academic challenges, and guiding transfer students in their transition to Oberlin. The manager also develops and contributes to programs, communications, and resources that foster the academic success of double-degree and transfer students and assists with broader advising and student support efforts.
The position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills; commitment to access and equity; and a mindset that proactively identifies opportunities for improvement.

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree
• Experience advising or providing other academic support for undergraduate students
• Experience working effectively with people from different backgrounds
• Strong written and oral communication skills; proven ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, families, and senior administrators
• Ability to:
  • Work independently and exercise independent judgment and discretion
  • Plan ongoing work, easily switch between tasks, and follow projects through to completion
  • Work collaboratively across organizational units with a diverse faculty/staff team and student body
  • Identify problems, implement solutions, and resolve issues with students, administrators, and staff
  • Learn and effectively navigate software used in academic advising and adapt to new technologies and processes
  • Work some evenings and weekends

Compensation:

Within the range established for this position, salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Compensation includes a competitive benefits package.
