Shape our transformative era at UniSQ and provide leadership in the planning and design of spaces across all three UniSQ campuses.

Who you are

You are a strategic thinker who thrives at the intersection of design, data and planning. Communicating confidently, you lead teams with clarity and integrity to balance creativity and compliance when designing UniSQ spaces. UniSQ is embarking on a bold and transformative era—and the spaces we design, plan, and evolve are central to enabling that vision. Your expertise will directly shape the environments where thousands of students learn, staff collaborate, and research flourishes.

What you'll do

You will lead UniSQ’s space planning framework, ensuring that every space across all campuses is used effectively, strategically, and sustainably. In the first 6-12 months, you will begin the development of space planning strategies that align with UniSQ’s long-term academic and organisational objectives, provide leadership and guidance for planning and design of new facilities, refurbishments, and strategic campus projects and prepare high-level reports, presentations, and briefings for senior management and governance bodies.

As a key advisor to the senior leadership team, you will support leaders through the analysis, space utilisation insights, and high-quality reporting to inform capital planning and investment decisions. Working closely with academic and professional stakeholders, the Manager ensures space solutions support contemporary teaching, learning, research, and workplace needs, while meeting regulatory, safety, and policy requirements.

You will also provide strategic and operational leadership to a small specialist team and maintain oversight of space management systems and data to support informed, transparent decision-making.

What will help you succeed

Paired with a relevant degree in architecture, urban planning, facilities management or similar, plus extensive experience (or equivalent mix of experience and training), you will bring:

  • The high-level ability to manage complex projects and competing priorities.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to deliver evidence-based solutions.
  • Proven ability to mentor, empower, and manage staff effectively.
  • Demonstrated experience in space planning, strategic asset management, or capital development in a large organisation.
