Job Summary
Under minimal supervision, manages the daily operations of the Department of Mathematics Math Center, including tutoring and grading programs that support undergraduate and graduate instruction. Oversees student employee recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, and supervision; coordinates academic support services with faculty and graduate teaching assistants; and ensures the efficient delivery of tutoring and grading resources. Maintains program operations, communications, and instructional resources while fostering a welcoming, collaborative, and student-centered learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations of the Math Center and oversee student academic support services.
- Determine tutoring and grading staffing needs based on course offerings and subject-matter expertise.
- Recruit, interview, hire, train, and supervise student tutors and graders.
- Manage student employment processes, including ePAFs, I-9 documentation, and work authorization requirements.
- Develop and coordinate tutoring, grading, and graduate teaching assistant schedules.
- Maintain the Math Center website, Canvas course, tutoring schedules, and other program communications.
- Coordinate faculty grader requests and assign graders for weekly coursework and exams.
- Ensure Math Center instructional materials and resources remain current.
- Oversee the organization and maintenance of the Math Center facility.
- Address student and employee questions and concerns while fostering a positive and effective learning environment.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Four to six years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of hiring department's area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department. Completion of provided supervisory training within one year of employment may be required.
