Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting cage wash and material handling operations, including cleaning, sterilisation, and specialised equipment processing
- Managing waste disposal, maintaining equipment, and contributing to quality control and biosecurity practices
- Coordinating with internal teams and stores personnel to ensure effective supply, inventory management, and distribution
- Assisting with basic animal husbandry tasks and participating in rostered weekend and public holiday work (with training), as required
This role involves a high level of physical activity, including lifting, pushing, and handling equipment and supplies.
About You
You are a dependable, hands-on professional who takes pride in maintaining high standards and contributing to meaningful research outcomes. You thrive in a team-oriented environment and bring strong organisational skills alongside a proactive and detail-focused mindset.
You will demonstrate:
- Completion of a Certificate III qualification; or Year 12 or Certificate II with relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proven ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and consistency
- Well-developed time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing tasks
- Effective communication skills and the ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Experience working in laboratory animal facilities or similar environments
- Knowledge of cage wash operations, waste disposal procedures, and specialised equipment
- Understanding of WHS, OGTR, and biosecurity regulatory requirements, with experience in basic animal handling
