About the programme

The Department of Physics has a strong commitment to curiosity-driven research but also recognizes its responsibility in helping industry conduct market-driven research and development.

More importantly, the department has established a reputation in taking teaching and supervising students very conscientiously. This Materials Science and Engineering programme is offered at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

nonlinear optical properties of organic materials
applications of nanoparticles in biology and medicine
nano-bio interface and nanoplatforms for theranostics
solar energy materials
energy storage materials
computational biophysics
computational materials physics

Academic requirements

We are not aware of any specific GRE, GMAT or GPA grading score requirements for this programme.

English requirements

TOEFL iBT: 79
IELTS: 6.5

Other requirements

The applicant shall have:

a master's degree from a recognized university; or
graduated from a recognized university and obtained a bachelor's degree, normally with honours not lower than Second Class; or
graduated from an honours programme of a recognized university with a bachelor's degree, normally achieving an average grade of not lower than "B"; or
completed a course of study in a tertiary educational institution and obtained professional or similar qualifications equivalent to an honours degree.
