College/Department Information

The Medical College of Georgia (MCG) is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 304 students per class. The MCG educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, with regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state, and two four-year campuses located in Athens (in partnership with the University of Georgia) and in Savannah (in partnership with Georgia Southern University). MCG's expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provide more than 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. MCG and its teaching hospitals also provide postgraduate education to approximately 575 residents and fellows in 50 different Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved programs. Our researchers and clinicians focus on what most impacts the health of Georgia's and America's children and adults, including cardiovascular biology and disease, cancer, neurosciences and behavioral sciences, public and preventive health, regenerative and reparative medicine, personalized medicine and genomics. Our physician faculty also share their expertise with physicians and patients at about 100 clinics and hospitals statewide.

Job Summary

This MCG Financial Analyst position will help support the financial, operational, and analytical infrastructure that drives faculty performance across the Medical College of Georgia. This role manages clinical incentive compensation models, monitors faculty productivity, and supports key financial processes related to research commitments, funding, and return on investment. The analyst provides data driven insights that guide compensation decisions, resource allocation, and strategic planning across MCG's clinical and research enterprises. This position will develop and maintain standard reports for MCG while being strategically focused on clinical and research productivity.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities to include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical and analytical support for the maintenance of MCG's clinical faculty incentive compensation model. Maintain systems governing base salary, supplemental pay, and incentive calculations tied to productivity, funds flow, departmental budgets, and FTE assignments. Conduct compensation benchmarking and model revisions to ensure competitiveness and alignment with institutional goals. Support calculative and analytical models for the evolution of the faculty clinical incentive plan. Reconcile data sources, validate data integrity, and prepare detailed analyses and reports to support faculty compensation decisions.
  • Maintain standardized reporting that monitors MCG's faculty compensation relative to internal and external benchmarks. Manage individual and summative faculty accounts to track progress toward assigned productivity and compensation targets. Perform complex analyses to identify trends, outliers, and opportunities for improvement in both compensation and productivity. Provide ongoing reporting to support operational oversight, strategic planning, and continuous performance improvement across clinical and research missions.
  • Track faculty research commitments, including startup packages, bridge funding, and other institutional support. Maintain systems that track research productivity. Develop and maintain reporting on indirect cost recovery (F&A), including trends, distributions, and departmental impacts. Analyze research return on investment (ROI) by evaluating the relationship between institutional support, extramural funding, productivity, and outcomes. Track faculty research effort commitments and ensure alignment with sponsored project requirements, institutional expectations, and compensation structures.
  • Assist Manager of MCG Financial Operations with day-to-day financial duties relating to both MCG and GCC commitments. Duties include reviewing and approving budget amendments, funding distribution ePAR transactions, payroll and NPS cost transfers, negative budget corrections, and reconciliations.
  • Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with two years of experience in financial analysis or other business-related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Practical experience with PeopleSoft HCM and PeopleSoft Financials.
  • Significant experience working with advanced features of Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with AU policies and procedures or experience in higher education, academic, or hospital/clinical environment.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

KNOWLEDGE
Proven competence in documentation of work processes.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
Familiarity with AU financial structure and/or higher education financials.
Intermediate to advanced Excel knowledge including pivot tables, macros, report creating/formatting.
Established knowledge of industry standards related to physician reimbursement and clinical productivity measurement.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required).
Salary: $52,500-$65,600 annually.
Pay Band: B10
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
