Detailed Position Information
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at The University of Alabama (https://me.eng.ua.edu/) invites applications for non-tenure-track, renewable contract faculty positions across all domains relevant to mechanical engineering. Primary duties of the successful candidate will include teaching in core lecture classes, unit operations laboratory and/or senior design courses, as well as appropriate service roles in the department.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution by the date of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications
UA’s Department of Mechanical Engineering Faculty is grouped into three interconnected but distinct disciplinary groups; Dynamic Systems & Control (DSC), Materials Processing & Manufacturing (MPM), and ThermoFluids Science (TFS). The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a high-performance level in the classroom or laboratory, actively engage students, and take a leadership role in curricular matters in one or more of the disciplinary groups. Special preference will be given to candidates with experience in high-speed flow diagnostics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, real time control systems, robotics and AI methods applied to optimization of control systems, smart manufacturing systems, including, Industrial Internet of Things, Industry 4.0, CAD/CAM, metrology and systems optimization.
