General Information
The JMU Health Center is seeking new members for our team. This position is for a Medical Administrative Assistant. The MAA is a front desk position responsible for checking patients in and out, addressing students concerns, answering phone calls, etc. The University Health Center provides a comprehensive array of health care services and health education programs to JMU students. Included in our health care services are several medical clinics, a pharmacy, a medical laboratory, and other programs that provide services for more than 30,000 patient encounters a year. UHC practices evidence-based medicine in a confidential, inclusive environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides exceptional customer service to students who present at UHC for appointments.
- Ensures that students are in the correct location for their appointment and assists with check-in process.
- Assists with daily financial reporting when Medical Office Coordinator is out of the office.
- Provides assistance to Health Information Coordinator to enter information into student health records, including immunization information, insurance cards, etc.
- Provides exceptional customer service to students who call UHC for appointments/assistance.
- Answers questions as appropriate, schedules student appointments when necessary, and forwards calls to the correct employee as needed.
- Provides exceptional customer service to complete financial transactions to close out student appointments.
- Complies with JMU Investment and Card Services policies and procedures to accurately maintain and process card payments. Assists students with referral appointment requests when necessary.

- General computer knowledge as well as Microsoft Office
