Job Summary

Food Service Assistant

The position will work at Memorial Union's Badger Market assisting with the daily operations including preparing and serving beverages, operating the register, stocking merchandise/food/beverages and maintaining inventory levels. The role requires a strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices to ensure a clean and welcoming environment. Excellent customer service skills are essential to create a friendly and positive experience for all patrons.

Key Job Responsibilities:

• Greets customers, answers questions, and provides basic information regarding food preparation and associated activities
• Cleans, inspects, and maintains kitchen equipment and work areas
• Assists and guides student workers
• Prepares a variety of basic dishes such as sandwiches and salads, and assists in the preparation of more complex dishes
• Adheres to federal, state, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures
• Performs routine food preparation activities such as portioning, chopping food, and serving food to customers
