Faculty will work collaboratively for the interdisciplinary care of patients in the general dentistry, prosthetic, periodontic, endodontic, oral surgery, oral diagnosis, orthodontic and pediatric dentistry sections of HUCD. Evidence-based care is integral to all our programs.
Candidates are being sought for all Divisions within the Department of Comprehensive Care.
General Qualifications and Performance Scope
Applicants must hold DDS/DMD degree from a Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA)-accredited institution, and specialists must hold a dental specialty certificate from a CODA-accredited advanced dental education program. Current active DC dental licensure or eligibility for full, unrestricted licensure or teaching license in DC is required. Specialist candidates must be board-eligible in their field; board certification is desirable but not required. For General Dentistry candidates a certificate of training from a CODA-accredited Advanced Education in General Dentistry or General Practice Residency program is preferred; other demonstration of sustained development such as certification by the American Board of General Dentistry, American Board of Operative Dentistry, or Fellowship/Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry in lieu of residency training is highly desirable but not required.
Candidates with a well-established record as a dental educator, with a current faculty position and experience in positions of leadership are preferred, but all qualified applicants will be considered.
Faculty responsibilities and activities may include didactic, simulation laboratory (where applicable), and clinical teaching to predoctoral and post-graduate students, provide direct supervision of patient care in the predoctoral and postgraduate clinics, course directorship, supervising emergency/urgent patient care needs, participating in scholarly activities including teaching innovations and/or clinical or non-clinical research. All faculty are expected to participate in calibration activities and contribute to a cohesive and consistent execution of student instruction and development of clinical competency. Additional duties essential to the operations and strategic goals of the College may be assigned, as needed, by their respective Division Director, the Chair of the Comprehensive Care Department, or the Dean. There will also be an opportunity for faculty clinical practice in an intramural clinic operated by the dental school.
Position-Specific Needs (All Comprehensive Care Department disciplines are seeking candidates)
Endodontics: Ability and willingness to supervise emergency/urgent clinical situations that warrant endodontic intervention for relief of symptoms.
Prosthodontics: Experience in direct prosthodontic patient care with removable, fixed, implant, digital dentistry, and temporomandibular joint appliance therapy, including oral reconstruction with comprehensive prosthodontic treatment planning, and fabrication of prostheses with both conventional and digital workflows to include intraoral image acquisition and Computer-Assisted Design/Computer-Assisted Manufacture (CAD/CAM) processes.
