NIF Human Connectomics Fellow

Based within the National Imaging Facility (NIF) at the Centre for Advanced Imaging (CAI), this role will see you working at the forefront of national research infrastructure to advance impactful, translational science.
The primary purpose of this role is to coordinate and participate in research programs at the Queensland node of the NIF, located at the CAI within the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN) and the Herston Imaging Research Facility (HIRF).
In this research focused academic position, you will coordinate and contribute to research programs, support imaging data analysis at scale, and collaborate across Australia’s leading imaging network. You will be part of an ambitious and inclusive community committed to improving human health outcomes through innovation and discovery.
You will be expected to provide connectomics and image analysis expertise on a collaborative and consultative basis to both local and external users of the NIF facilities. Additionally, the role involves facilitating access to UQ and national computational facilities for NIF users, as well as promoting NIF activities to the international, national, and institutional scientific communities.
You will have the opportunity to develop an independent research profile in the area of connectomics and image analysis and will be integral to imaging data analysis research activities at the UQ node. This role provides an excellent opportunity to further develop your expertise and establish an emerging research profile within the discipline of image analysis and pipelines development.
The opportunity is open to an experienced Postdoctoral Fellow (Level A), Research Fellow (Level B) or a Senior Research Fellow (Level C).
Key responsibilities will include:
- Research: Establish/contribute to a research program, collaborate on research projects, seek and manage research funding, publish in reputable journals, utilize best practice research methodologies, and participate in project discussions.
- Teaching: Where undergraduate and postgraduate teaching is undertaken, achieve teaching quality as indicated by approved surveys and outcomes for students and improve or innovate where appropriate in response to feedback.
- Supervision and Researcher Development: Contribute to supervision of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students, recruit and manage employees, provide performance feedback and training, resolve conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits.
- Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values.
