Non-tenure Line Lecturer - Language other than Spanish: French, Latin, German, Japanese, Italian, Chinese, ASL, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic
The Department of World Languages and Literatures at Texas State University seeks to develop a pool for temporary/nontenured faculty with expertise in world languages for positions at the rank of lecturer. The Department of World Languages and Literatures at Texas State offer majors and minors in Spanish, French and German, and a minor in Arabic, Chinese, Italian, and Japanese. Successful candidates will be able to teach courses in the language in their area of expertise.
Temporary/nontenured faculty are appointed to teach one to four courses per semester. Teaching appointments are based upon student demand on a semester by semester basis. Eligibility for annual reappointment is contingent upon satisfactory annual performance evaluations during the term period, in addition to continuity of funding and departmental need. Successful candidates may teach at the San Marcos and Round Rock campuses and/or online, depending on the needs of the academic department.
This posting is for the Fall 2026, Spring 2027, and Summer 2027 semesters.
Required Qualifications
- Specific educational requirements vary by position, but a minimum of a master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in the teaching field is generally required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. or ABD in the specific area of instruction.
- Previous teaching experience is preferred.
