Nontenure Faculty Pool - Department of World Languages & Literatures - Spanish
Position Description
The Department of World Languages and Literatures at Texas State University seeks to develop a pool of educators with expertise in Spanish for temporary/nontenured faculty positions at the rank of lecturer. The Department of World Languages and Literatures at Texas State offer majors and minors in Spanish, French and German, and a minor in Arabic, Chinese, Italian, and Japanese. Successful candidates will be able to teach courses in Spanish.
Temporary/nontenured faculty are appointed to teach one to four courses per semester. Teaching appointments are based upon student demand on a semester by semester basis. Eligibility for annual reappointment is contingent upon satisfactory annual performance evaluations during the term period, in addition to continuity of funding and departmental need. Successful candidates may teach at the San Marcos and Round Rock campuses and/or online, depending on the needs of the academic department.
This posting is for the Fall 2025, Spring 2026, and Summer 2026 semesters. Please note that this posting is not intended to convey that such a need currently exists. Applicants applying for a pool faculty position will be available to the departmental search committee for consideration as the need arises.
Positions are subject to availability of funds.
Required Qualifications
- Specific educational requirements vary by position, but a minimum of a master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in the teaching field is generally required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in the specific area of instruction.
- Previous teaching experience is preferred.
